Using Skein in Unity
The Skein window
Tools → Skein → Collaborate (or Window → Skein Collaboration). Dock it anywhere.
- Header: connection status — ● Connected, ● Reconnecting…, ● Offline.
- Session card: project, session name, session ID (copy), Leave. When not connected you'll see why, how many changes are waiting to sync, a Reconnect now button and View technical details.
- People: everyone in the session — avatar, name, role, online/away/reconnecting, what they're doing (Editing: PlayerController, Selected: Door_Main, Viewing: MainLevel) and which scene they're in. Being edited lists objects locked by others, with Select and (for admins) Unlock.
- History: "Chris moved Door_Main — 2 minutes ago". Click Select to find the object.
- Snapshots: save the active scene, restore (owners/admins), delete.
- Activity: joins, leaves, warnings and notices.
- Settings: Scene view overlays, auto-lock, diagnostics (round trip, pending changes, Simulate connection loss), server URL.
In the Scene view
- Cameras: a frustum per teammate in their color, with their name and activity.
- Selections: colored outlines around what others have selected.
- Locks: a thick outline and Editing: Name label on objects others are editing.
- Panel (top-right): who's here, connection state, and Go to — jump your view to a teammate's camera.
Toggle each overlay in Settings.

Script reloads and play mode
Recompiling scripts reloads Unity's domain, which closes the connection. Skein detaches without leaving and resumes the same session afterwards, keeping your locks (if the reload takes under ~15 s). Entering Play Mode shows In Play Mode to others; changes made in Play Mode are not synchronized (Unity reverts them when you exit).
