Inside the editor
The scene stops being a place you work alone.
Skein is a live layer on top of the version control you already use. It doesn’t replace Git or Unity Version Control — it makes the hours between commits collaborative.
Live presence
Everyone’s Scene view camera appears in yours — a colored frustum with their name, smoothly interpolated.
Selections you can see
Know what a teammate is looking at before you touch it. Selections are outlined in their color.
Ownership, not overwrites
Selecting an object locks it for you. Others see “Editing: Chris” — and their edits are undone instead of silently colliding.
Real-time transforms
Drag an object and teammates see it move as you drag. The final value is committed once, in order, to everyone.
History that reads like English
“Alex changed Light intensity — 5 minutes ago.” Every change records who, what, before and after.
Snapshots
Save “Before Boss Fight Update”. Restore it for the whole team with one click and a clear warning first.
Engineered for the editor
Light on the network. Invisible to your frame time.
- Adaptive camera updates. Nothing is sent while you’re still; at most 15 updates a second while you fly around, then one final “rest” sample.
- No garbage on the hot path. Presence messages are composed into reused buffers — verified by an allocation test in our CI.
- Ordered, exactly-once edits. Every change gets a session sequence number; retries are de-duplicated and gaps are detected and refilled automatically.
- Built for bad Wi-Fi. Drop off and you’re back in seconds with your locks intact. Edits made offline are queued, not lost.
